EAGLE BRIDGE, NY – Mother Nature hasn’t been kind to the race teams at Lebanon Valley in recent weeks. Rain at different times throughout race nights has thrown team several curveballs.

Saturday, the 358-Modifieds were able to get their feature in and Chad Pierce brought his #83 home in the 13th spot. However, the race was cut short by four laps…due to rain.

Chad started the feature in fifth position, but the early night rain showers threw he and the rest of the teams for a loop. The track had changed since the heat races and made for an interesting feature event.

“It was a pretty crazy night that’s for sure,” he said. “We were tight on the top lane which didn’t help and relegated us back to 13th.”

That was when a freak rain storm blanketed the speedway just as lap 20 clicked off.

“It happened all of a sudden,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it. I saw the top five skating and originally thought it was from Ray Hall who was smoking previously. Then, I hit the rain and was like wow, but I was able to get through. I’ve never seen anything like that before in my life as a driver.”

With the issues Saturday, the team has gone to work to get the car’s setup figured out and they’ve made big gains.

“I’m still not getting through the corners good enough,” Pierce said. “We’ve done some homework with this thing and I’m confident we’ve got it figured out and we’re going to be better.”

The next event for the team will be this Saturday at Lebanon Valley Speedway. Gates open at 5pm.
